Anna

Anna a 22 year old unemployed female from a single parent family with a state school education and a degree in Cultural Studies is now considering a career in arts and museums work. In order to find out if this is the right career choice and to develop her CV she took part in Team East for Skills to gain experience in this area of work, particularly with a community focus. Managed by Creative Arts East, Anna carried out an internship with Wymondham Arts Forum, a volunteer-led community group, where her focus was on organising exhibitions for their new and pilot Arts Centre. The role involved assisting with the management of the volunteer rota, liaising with artists and forum members, attending and minuting meetings, planning and curating exhibitions, and inputting into the budget and marketing materials. During this process Anna was supported by a local professional sculptor who has commented that Anna is ‘bright and intelligent and keen to learn’ and that she has been enjoying working with her in this capacity. Resulting from her ongoing participation and skills development with Wymondham Arts Forum Anna is hoping to enrol on an MA in Museology in 2010 and now has a part-time job at a local arts-cafe.
