Volunteering

Volunteering is a positive thing, both for the volunteer and for the people that they help. Volunteering is the basis of active citizenship that creates inclusive and vibrant ‘active communities’. Volunteering:

  • Offers a way of developing new skills
  • Improves physical and mental health
  • Improves your  C.V.
  • Offers supported opportunities for people with disadvantages/disabilities
  • Provides a route back into work
  • Put spare time to good use
  • You will meet new people and have fun
  • Gives you a sense of achievement

Volunteer centres

  • provide easy access to volunteering information and brokerage services
  • offer appropriate support for volunteers, particularly those who face significant barriers
  • develop imaginative, innovative and flexible opportunities that meet individual and community needs
  • create opportunities for volunteers in learning and personal development
  • everyone will have access to a progression coach
